Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy for Autism in NY:
Support for Adults, Teens, and Children
Are You an Autistic Teen or Adult—or a Parent of an Autistic Child—Seeking Support in New York?
If you're here, you might be feeling burned out, overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure of how to navigate life as an autistic person in a world that often isn’t designed with your needs in mind. Maybe you've just discovered you're autistic. Maybe you’ve known for years. Maybe you’re still figuring it out.

Whether you’re formally diagnosed, self-identified, or simply exploring the possibility that you might be autistic, you deserve therapy that respects your experience—not one that tries to change who you are or “fix” you. Therapy should be a space where you can come exactly as you are, feel truly seen, and also explore any changes you want to make—on your terms. You deserve support that meets you with warmth, curiosity, and collaboration.
I provide autism therapy in-person in Garden City, NY and online throughout New York for children, teens, and adults who are looking for that kind of space. Read on for more information or jump to my FAQ.
My Approach to Autism-Affirming Therapy
Therapy with me is neurodiversity-affirming, which means I don’t view autism as something to be cured or corrected. I see it as a natural variation in how brains work—and that variation deserves understanding, not pathologizing. I don’t focus on making you appear more "typical." I focus on helping you feel more you.

Depending on your needs, our work might include:

-
Exploring identity and deepening self-understanding
-
Supporting you through autistic burnout and sensory overwhelm
-
Unpacking years of masking, camouflaging, or adapting to neurotypical expectations
-
Addressing systemic trauma, internalized ableism, and past invalidation
-
Developing practical strategies that work with you—not against you
-
Identifying areas for growth or change that you choose, at your own pace
-
Understanding breakdowns in communication or relationship challenges, with respect for your boundaries and preferences
-
Exploring emotions and emotional experiences in ways that feel safe and affirming to you

I offer a flexible, collaborative therapy approach shaped by your unique needs—not a one-size-fits-all formula. Through a neurodiversity-affirming lens, I adapt evidence-based practices such as client-centered therapy, CBT, ACT, DBT, and mindfulness techniques to honor and support your neurological differences. These tools help you build self-understanding, manage emotions, navigate challenges, and stay connected to your values with empathy and self-compassion.

When working with children, I tailor sessions to match their developmental level, communication style, and sensory needs. I may collaborate with caregivers to support the child’s goals, whether that's emotional regulation, confidence, or easing daily stressors.

Can Online Therapy Work for Autistic Clients?
While I do provide in-person therapy in Garden City, NY, this may not be an accessible option if you live outside of the NYC/Long Island area. Fortunately, I also offer online therapy throughout New York State for those for whom in-person therapy isn't an option.
Many autistic folks find online therapy more accessible and comfortable because it allows you to:
-
Attend sessions from a sensory-safe space
-
Avoid the stress of commuting or new environments
-
Use tools or stims that help you focus
-
Communicate more freely (e.g., camera off, using chat, requesting breaks)

I tailor sessions to meet your needs, whether that means pacing slowly, sharing visuals or summaries, or adjusting the format in ways that help you engage more comfortably.
Serving All of New York
As a licensed psychologist in New York, I offer online therapy for autistic individuals across the entire state—from NYC to Long Island, Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and everywhere in between. If you’re anywhere in NY and seeking support, I can meet with you virtually.
